Great / Good Food Live

Had a lady on yesterday promoting a book full of useful/practical/moneysaving tips/tricks/advice (shopping, beauty diy, cleaning etc etc) .... well I think that was the gist of it .....but I only caught a quick glimpse and didn't get her name and can't remember the name of the book.....imperfect female or something???

Anyway I've done a quick search and can't come up with anything so wondered if anyone else had seen it and if so, can you remember the author or proper title of the book?

Thanks

    Was it THIS one??
I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle
  • I didn't see this lady on Great Food Live but I have a book which was given to me years ago called the Goode Kitchen. It is written by a woman called Mrs Goode and she had her own TV series in the 80's called the Goode Kitchen and it is a mine of moneysaving information. It is full of little tips like "wash your potatoes thoroughly and then peel thickly when making boiled potaotes and then save the peel and deep fry it for cruncy potato skins!!" I love this book and you can get it on ebay or amazon for peanuts!

  • Hi. I have that book too - loads of tips and her philosophy is that by budgeting etc you eat a lot better because you think more about what you are cooking etc. I often make 'free soup' inspired by her ideas. (ie I save bits like the stalks from broccoli, celery stump, outer leaves of cabbage/lettuce/cauli, end of cucumber, green tops of leeks - you get the picture - I pop all this in a bag at bottom of fridge and once I have a reasonable amount throw it in pressure cooker with onion, sometimes a tin of tomatoes etc and blitz it with blender. Always yummy.

Yep that's the one - brilliant, thanks very much.

Think I might have a look out for the Goode one too.

    Thank you kindly!
