Getting Married...

I was just sat thinking today, as I'm due to get married next year...how will it affect my other half? He knows etc., but (and I can't believe I've only thought about it now), I was wondering if I have to inform the OR or if it will affect my OH in any way?

Hi
I don't know the answer I'm afraid by my partner and I are planning to marry and he is about to go BR so I will watch this thread with interest.
Congratulations btw!

Congratulations!!
No - you getting married is nothing to do with your OR. Unless you are planning to invite him......
Just email him after the event to tell him your new name. Nothing changes, your SOA is the same and a new husband is going to contribute the same amount as when he was just a partner.
Being married will not affect your OH anymore than it does now.
What you cannot do is save for your wedding in your SOA. Add it in though if you have enough anyway and let the OR knock it off if they want to.0 -
Hi Miss Ratty,
You'll be discharged by then so you won't have to tell the OR anything :jAccept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Unless you are currently living apart and he is contributing nothing. Once you are BR, any changes in circumstances have to be reported within 21 days. However, you may be discharged by then and he can whistle for it!!:D1/11/06 -1/06/07 BSC #42
For FREE advice. Your local CAB Office - ask to speak to a 'money advisor'.*The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111*National Debtline - Tel: 0800 808 4000*Payplan - Tel: 0800 917 7823*Insolvency Helpline-0800 074 69180 -
Are you already living together? As long as your financial ties remain the same (preferably non-existent considering the situation) then nothing will change. I recently married my partner who is in the midst of all this.0

Thanks Jock! I just assumed that they were already living together!0

Sorry..maybe I`m old fashioned but I assumed they weren`t :rotfl:
I actually learned not to assume anything leading up to and during our BR.....that and " don`t volunteer anything, let them ask!!"
