I think they are just trying to help you and offer all the possibilities. After all, this site comes with a big warning that we are all only expressing our own opinions.
If you need a definitive answer to make you feel more reassured, then I would book an appointment with CAB and they will be able to help you in practical ways.0 -
If you want some practical feedback on offering full and final settlements from people who have done it, the best place to ask is the Debtfreewanabee board. Sometimes a DCA will offer it as an option - they might prefer to have £1000 now and close their file rather than spend money chasing the debt, going to court, having the admin of dealing with a few pounds coming in every month etc etc. If it is done properly the debt should be settled. It would affect his credit rating, but the damage has already been done by defaulting on the debt in the first place.0
