    Bit of a witch hunt TBH, and lop sided to boot. The questions coming from those responsible for the regulatory framework in which these bankers thrived then crashed and burned. These bankers operated outside their comfort zone and it turned sour, what else is there to know?

    I disagree. The questions aren't coming from the regulators, they're coming from a committee of MPs who are responsible for representing the electorate.

    And there's a lot to know. Few people know how this really happened (apart from those who flatter their ego by shouting "I knew it all along"), and finding out from those who were running banks' strategies is part of trying to piece things together.
  • Am listening to it on 5 Live. To listen to the bankers its not their fault.....

    The BBC have got their headline wrong... they claim that bankers have "apologised", but if I remember correctly Sir Fred's words were "I'm sorry for the sequence of events" or something that effect... Not quite a neat apology.

    Indeed they do represent the electorate, and they were doing just that when they voted for G Browns bill on the regulatory framework in 1998. So IMHO they are part responsible for the construction of the playground in which these bankers were allowed to play unsupervised

    Because our glorious leader and his predecessor were always so careful to ensure their apologies were fullsome and unequivocal..??

    Not.

    What's your point? I don't even know what you're referring to, but either way, the idea that "well sally didn't say it so why should suzie have to say it" is childish to say the least.

    Er, by that logic then, everyone who voted in this Government is also responsible by proxy?

    And every woman who gave both to someone who voted for this Government is also reponsible? They are after all part responsible for the "construction" of the "playground" of kids that allowed the Government to "play unsupervised".

    :rolleyes:

    Its called Leadership.

    If our Govt had not spent the last 10 years spinning all their excuses for failure/dishonesty/incompetence, maybe, just maybe, the Fat Cats would be pilloried more, for being out of line with "the standards of the day";

    In reality, today, after years of example being given by our Leadership, it is expected that people obfuscate.
