Next time that happens, draw on your key with a pencil. OH gets screwdriver and removes handle/casing. No joy. OH gets pliers. Key snaps in lock  I find the keys for the other door in my bag(yale and a 'long' style key for a door not used in about 4 years). Yale - fine. Long key? There's one in the lock on the other side and it won't push out as it's half turned  . Getting even wetter.
Don't leave keys in locks. It means you can open the door just by twisting the key round with a screwdriver. Because guess what? It's the right key..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

I think what had happened is the door was swollen, not 100% shut and the lock had somehow caught in the wrong position and I guess the door with even more rain had swollen a bit more.........although as I didn't have a pencil with me, that wouldn't have been a solution, but I now will carry one!!!Next time that happens, draw on your key with a pencil. That's the OH.....telling me it had to be locked and then the key half turned  We tried everything - screwdriver, end of a plastic spoon, one of the spikey ends on my umbrella to try to push it through but the torch showed it wasn't sitting in the hole properly.......thing is it hasn't been opened for years and even if moveable it was kind of 'stuck' as well  ...........oh,you guessed the second 2 implements pushed into the hole were my idea..............ok.......:o
Right........sigh......can't put this off. Need to go to town, get copy key cut.......grumble, grumble, hate going to town......
