Council Tax - need help

Hi i dont know if i am posting in the right place but if anyone could help with this.

I lost my home about 3 years ago just befor then i lost my job bout 1 - 11/2 years before then. i fell into arrears with council tax and now been chased for about 3 -4 years worth. I have had many letter and visits from baliffs. Have not let them in but know the debt need to be paid. Have contacted the local coucil who will not understand that i can not afford the £400 the bailiff want to set up a payment arrangment. Have requested the council take the account back and even request we go back to court (was that right to do) but they wont do anything. Have offered to goto them and prove my income but still nothing and still the bailiffs call can someone please tell me what i should do to. Have even tried to send payment to the council but the was returned requesting me to contact the bailiff, Iam willing to pay what i can afford and have told the council many time

In the first instance, you CANNOT go back to the court...there is no provision for this.

The council are WRONG in that they can intervene.....but very rarely do.

A long as you do NOT allow a bailiff to come into your home to levy on goods or levy on your car outside, then they can do very little and instead can only return the debt back to the council.

You MUST offer to pay something and I have sent you a PM with the password to access template letters from our website.

You MUST send a letter immediately and if payments are agreed, then please ensure that these payments are made on time as the bailiff co will only return and attempt to charge you for defaulting.
