How about good old shepherds pie, or sausage stew, sausage pasta, meatballs, fishfingers, cauliflower cheese, sausage hotpot, spag bol, lasagne, macaroni cheese, sausage toad, corned beef hash ( mind you corned beef is not as cheap as it used to be) get some cheap chicken portions from Asda (£1.68 a bag) you can make two or three meals from that such as chicken stew , chicken and rice with stir fry veg, or a pie etc
For desserts I do a- Magic chocolate pudding - cheats way -1 pkt chocolate cake mix 35p, make as per instructions on pkt and put in a greased dish of any shape , put 2tbsp brown sugar and 2 tbsp cocoa powder in a jug and pour on abot half a pint of boiling water, mix well and pour on to the sponge it looks yucky, but here's the magic bit -the sponge rises through the sauce and when you serve it up it's lovely and chocolatey,
- Apple pudding - cheat's way 1 pkt vanilla sponge 23p Smartprice put some apples in the bottom of a dish (eaters past their best are ideal for this) add sugar to taste pour sponge on top and bake as on pkt serve with custard
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Jamie Olivers meatball recipe from ministry of food is really good. It uses cream crackers to bulk out the mince and makes a really nice texture. I added extra chilli and cumin to the tomato sauce and it was gorgeous. Could serve with hm garlic bread, salad. For pudding I usually make some sort of crumble at the beginning of the week, costs no more than £1.50 and lasts all week, eaten with custard or ice cream0

Maybe a chicken and broccolli risotto? If you have rice... And sausages with bubble and squeak (potatoes and cabbage) for the kids?Chifundo Uzuri Siochain"All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost" - JRR Tolkien~
