I want to make a Humpty Dumpty Cake?

I hope this is the correct board for my question. I really want to make a Humpty Dumpty Cake for my son who will be turning one in a few weeks time. I'm not creative at all but since he loves nursery rhymes so much I thought this sort of cake would be ideal instead of having a shop bought one.
For the cake I was wondering if Mr Bad Examples chocolate yoghurt cake would work? Well this is has far as I have got. I bought one of those icing tools where you put icing inside the plastic tube, select an end and push down - a bit like an injection. I hope that make sense anyway.
I'm sure lots of MSE's may have attempted this but if not or really good at cake baking including novelty cakes. I would really appreciate some guidance. Thanks all.

I did a Humpty Dumpty cake for DS1 about 16 years ago. I made a "wall" out of sponge cake, covered it in chocolate butter cream and piped a brick pattern in icing, then made Humpty out of an easter egg, sat him on the wall and decorated him by piping features and making clothes and limbs out of fondant. Looked better than it sounds, was dead easy and DS1 was chuffed!0

Alikay, the cake you made all those years ago sounds fantastic! If you can please explain how I go about making a pair of trousers and shoes for Humpty as such? I also had the idea of using an easter egg but I was wondering did you use one that was smooth alround or one with the hexagon shape indented on it? Thanks again.

I think I used an egg with a smoother finish than the little hexagons...some have a more "bark effect" finish IYKWIM. I just coloured some ready made fondant and rolled out a disc which I shaped and put on the bottom of the egg (kinda like an acorn and cup effect) and rolled little legs in the same colour which I plonked on the wall with the egg on top. Then made a belt and buckle for above the trousers. I also made a few flowers and other details with fondant and sweets. Oh, to stick anything on to the egg (fondant bits, sweets) you'll need to mix up a sticky icing sugar paste for glue.0

I found this picture online and wondered if it might help (I hasten to add not one I have made - too clever for me!). However, it does look quite simple and it looks as though Humpty is made out of something just like an Easter egg.

I think it sounds a bit plain however will go round loads of children and maybe can jazz it up somewhow? plus it's more MSE...:rotfl:
Thanking you in advance for your ideas.
Kind regards, Mr and mrs t

Saw a cake on this site for HSM were it looks like they have just used a large plain chocolate cake and decorated that. Might be an option instead of a swiss role. Would you not consider putting icing writing on some parts of the cake leaving plenty plain for your daughter.

How about using Marzipan. It is easy to shape to make trousers/shoes for Humpty or to roll out to cover a cake and decorate.
We don't use icing on our cakes in Sweden but tend to have Marzipan instead and it does taste nice (I promise)

Here is a link to a picture of a Swedish traditional Princess Cake, It is covered with a thin layer of green marzipan
Another link if you want to have the instructions on how to make one.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Now I have two questions concerning icing?
1. I bought some white marzipan in Tesco today. How do you colour it?
2. I intend to make Humpty's arms, hat and maybe eyes out of the marzipan...in order stick little bits and pieces together am I supposed to use normal icing mixed a little water to resemble glue?
Hope you can help.
