John Prescot's petition re bankers' bonuses

What are you talking about? a great many of them end on the boards of major companies.
And the great majority of them aren't. But I quite agree - I would ban MPs from taking jobs outside the house. Didn't the Tory front bench rebel against Cameron's plan to impose such a ban on his front bench? You want to point out grasping MPs start there - they apparently threatened to resign en masse if he took away their directorships.
Your average workaday backbench MP, who has never been a cabinet minister, isn't exactly board material though.0 -
I think it's great - shame it comes from John Prescott, who others correctly point out is hardly blameless himself when it comes to ripping off the taxpayers' cash - but still, better someone does it than no-one.
As without massive public opposition, I fear the bankers are just going to get away with their huge bonuses.
Wonder how much the banks are donating - out of the kindness of their hearts, you understand - to Labour party funds? Or to shmoozing individual MP's who get to make decisions on this?
Read this morning that the chap made responsible for deciding bankers' bonuses by the govt is ....an ex-banker, who earned 10 million in bonuses in just 2 years in the 1990's.
So cleary the right man for the job - no bias there. :rolleyes:0 -
I am no fan off Prescott but I do want the voice of the public to get across and let the fat cats know that we, the good old British taxpayer, are against the payment of bonuses.
Shame it isn't someone more credible but at least they will have the numbers...Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000
Save £12k in 2013 no.34 £11,800/£12,000
'How much can you save' thread = £7,050
Total=£29,100
Mfi3 no. 88: Balance Jan '06 = £63,000.
Balance 23.11.09 = £nil.

Maybe when he delivers the 'integrated transport system' he made such play on, he can criticize others.
Still, his promise that there would be less car journeys by 2002 might happen, albeit seven years late. Mainly because so many of us will be out of work and no longer on the road in rush hour...0 -
Was Prescott drunk on Newsnight last night? He was rocking in his chair in between incoherent rants. To think this man was in charge of housing in this country. Give me strength.:o0

For goodness sake, why is there a debate over John Prescott's two jags etc when the real issue here is the RBS bonus? It's a unique opportunity for people to voice their anger (assuming they are angry).
There's another similar petition on the No 10 petition site
