I went but it wasnt there! Got home and googled it and it had been cancelled because of the weather. Will try and go next time its on though.
thanks, glad I didn't rush off after uni to go then!
  • I missed the Friday 13th one as I was in the Cairngorms (where the weather was gorgeous at least until early afternoon - blue skies, sunshine, no wind) - must have been bad in Edinburgh for them to cancel it - was it snow?

Anyway, will probably be going along to the one this Friday (27th) instead to see what it's like.

Dont waste your time - i was sorely disappointed by the 'Farmers market'. About 8 stalls in total, a cheese one, meat (burgers, sausages and bacon, couple of very expensive joints of meat), pates/coleslaws and pies, dairy free ice cream, touristy tat and a chocolate one - all preboxed.

Not really what i was expecting:confused: No fruit or veg or decent meat:rolleyes:

  • Hmm that doesn't sound too good - I was just about to pop down there. Think I might wait and get some stuff from the Castle Terrace farmers market tommorrow morning instead.

It sounded good on paper though as on the BBC food board it said
"20 stalls under the cover of the entrance so there is a mix of staples like meat - e.g. Whitmuir Organic, Sunnyside - and veggies - Phantassie Farm, Belhaven - as well as Pattersons for fish, Trusty Crust for baking and a sprinkling of extras like Scottish Preserves, Caurnie Soap, Stoats of course for the porridge bars, and Border Tablet for a sweet treat, etc."

Whitmuir have a great farm shop and Sunnyside meat, Phantassie veg and Trusty Crust bread all have good stalls at the Saturday Farmers market so I am dissapointed to hear that they weren't there. :(

Thanks for letting us know though.

There was a stoats stall there, i just forgot! The bread stall was dismal, there was no fish, no veggies.
I've never been to the saturday morning one, is it worth going to?
