I know you said that you cook everything from scratch, packed lunches etc, but over £400 per month is still a high food shopping spend. What sort of food are you buying? The old style board is packed with excellent meal ideas for as little as a £1!!
Also, how old are the teenagers? Could they not get themselves home from school? I used to get the bus when I went off to secondary. Or if it is a bit of a distance, could they share a lift with friends?
Could the oldest get a part-time job (paper round etc) to help pay for their swimming?
