I have just had a letter from one of my creditors, telling me that My Direct Debit payment has been returned "refer to payer" by my bankers.
They will be resubmitting the DD claim on 17th Feb and providing I have cleared funds available in the account on that date I need take no further action. A charge of £15. has been applied to the account to cover administration costs. This means that the amount they are going to take has gone up to £38.88 (one off)!
As far as I am aware I am or have nt been overdrawn and there was / is sufficient funds and I did not / have not cancelled the DD myself.
In connection to this letter I also received another one which is a DEFAULT sum notice dated 2nd Feb.
I also had a 3rd letter from the same company relating to a separate credit agreement (lower amount) stating that another Direct Debit payment has been returned "refer to payer" by my bankers.
They will be resubmitting the DD claim on 12th Feb and providing I have cleared funds available in the account on that date I need take no further action. Yet there is no Default notice or admin charge for this one.
Again I had sufficient funds and have not cancelled the DD.
Usually they would have phoned me to let me know and give me a chance to sort it out but in this case I havent received one call!
Whats going on
Thanks

It could be an error with numbers or account details..have you contacted the bank for any ideas why?Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
I would contact your bank first and speak to them to see if they can shed any light as to why they 'failed' to pay your DD. I would imagine that they would have a record of it being rejected and if they haven't then you know that it the fault of the payee and you can take it up further with them.
