employer being 'offish' due to childcare issues

I don't think it's unreasonable for an employer to be annoyed when staff are regularly off work. It disrupts the office and other people have to take on extra workloads. Employers these days can't afford to employ extra staff just to take up the slack when somebody is regularly sick or has childcare problems. You probably don't have much spare holiday but I suggest you talk with your boss, say how badly you feel about the situation and offer to set aside at least a week of your holiday to cover home-care emergencies. You don't say what kind of job you do. Could you also offer to work at home or make up the time by going in at week-ends while your husband cares for the children? Your boss is probably under pressure too as a result of the recession and having an employee who shows understanding of that situation is more likely to ease the way in finding a satisfactory compromise.0

I don't think it's unreasonable for employees to be annoyed by uncaring bosses. If you are an employer, or a boss, then you have to deal with these things and allow people that have responibilities to deal with those responsibilites.I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0 -

Who said the company was uncaring? If they were uncaring - the OP would have been out of a job by now.
Bosses have this little thing called a business to run...would it be better to let ALL the staff have as much time off as they want, when they want, let the company go under and then lay all the staff off???
There's got to be a limit, before things become unreasonable. Otherwise, why have a business in the first place?0
