The thanking hack is actually described to reduce users who post "thanks" posts, stop users post boosting and to allow users who don't want to post a "thanks" post because they feel.. um... What's the word... bad (that's not the word I wanted but ) about posting the post and adding to the moderators (or in MSE's case BG's) load to clean out the "thanks" posts.

Personally I think there should simply be a thumbs up and thumbs down button and you should also be able to make a comment about a post - you can do this in the vBulletin Reputation system but MSE don't have it switched on.

Looks like Thankyouhack's maker will do something like that

I've actually been wondering about that recently.

Last time it was switched on I was VERY much against it and didn't like the idea of us rating each other.

I still think it would be a horrible idea and completely negative.

But recently I've started to get really curious about how it would work. How it would effect the way we relate to each other on the boards.

Might be quite fun to turn it on for a wee while to see what happens. :rotfl:

    We might be surprised

(but I'd still only give it days before it had to be turned off icon12.gif )

I guess the old-timers must get fed-up of Newbies asking the same old questions and must think we are all pretty lazy for not finding the answers for ourselves.
But this is a huge forum and I have found the search option to be a little wild with its results.
I have been trawling through allsorts to try and find out how to add a Thanks button to my new posts. I've been to the A-Z and been led astray by unrelated things that have caught my eye whilst trying to find out how to do it :o
I've got to the stage where I'm (almost) to scared to ask :)
I've found out when it was added as a feature, and why it is there, but for the life of me I can't find how to get one :(

I guess ya could call me an old timer (if ya sick of living) :rotfl: only kiddin' lol, but tbh, it doesn't bother me in the slightest that people ask about things, we were all new here at one time, it's just that the thanks button does seem to raise a few temperatures and thats the bit i don't like :(

but welcome to the boards, hope your enjoying it :)
Nobody can make you feel inferior, without your permission ;)

Love doesn't make the world go round, it's what makes the ride worthwhile

    ya still freezing :p
