I think the thanking system is a good one. Lets you know how knowledgeable a poster is.

I guess the old-timers must get fed-up of Newbies asking the same old questions and must think we are all pretty lazy for not finding the answers for ourselves.

I've got to the stage where I'm (almost) to scared to ask :)

ask as many questions as you like MoJo,we all asked them ourselves once and remember there's no such thing as a daft question on MSE:D

My only regret is that there is'nt a button I can press to say that what certain posters say is crap!

Maybe you could have a Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down option?

I think the thanking system is a good one. Lets you know how knowledgeable a poster is.

Not really, someone could have 1000 thanks because they post lots of funny pics and jokes yet someone else who posts good knowledge might only have 250.

Thanking is just about stopping hundreds of people posting "thanks" after someone has posted something, pure and simple.

No wonder William Hill wont give me odds on the chances of a week passing without a thread about thanks being started on MSE........

I just pop in now and then.... :)

    Thanking is just good manners.
If someone has made an effort to answer or help a poster it`s only polite to acknowledge this.
