I'm self employed trying to make a go of my property maintenance service.
But as you can see i'm sitting here typing to you all, as i've got no work

    Afternoon Mike!

Have you spoken to a debt charity about debt and BR yet?? The business debtline is a good one for you (links at the top of the BR page) but they are very busy so you may have to wait. You do need to get professional advice before BR - its a huge undertaking and the judge on the day will want to know that you have sought advice.

Welcome anyway! Post away with (more or less) what ever you like and ask as many questions as you need.
  • Hi!
The best thing for you to do first would be to contact a debt management charity (try www.cccs.co.uk ) If you go on this site, you can go through a web based appointment that will point you in the right direction, or you can make an appointment to speak to someone free of charge.
  • contact some of the debt charities and see what they say also complete the debt remedy on www.cccs.co.uk this way you will know if BR is the best route for you, you can also put your SOA on here so we can give some advice on your situation, use the folowing link for this www.makesenseofcards.com

    hope this helps
  • Thanks Skylight.
Yes been to the CRB bout a year ago, thats how long we been toying with the idea.
Had my house repo bout 10 years ago, living in council now.
We owe bout £20.000 to lloyds TSB and the rest to these door to door loan companys, and sinking fast.

    Once again

I can second the advice to go to the Business Debt Line - it took me about 15-20 tries to get through, each one hanging on for about 10 minutes until it went to an answer machine, but when I did finally get through, they were absolutely brilliant.

Just to add, as long as you're not a limited company, you *should* be fine carrying on trading through your BR, if it is your only source of income.

    All the best

Don't ignore a problem. Unlike a bad smell, it won't eventually go away.

Give them a call definitely but always get a second opinion too if you can - National Debtline or CAB are good for another opinion.
