Tesco online shopping - pls help

Options
Hi all, I've done a fair bit of shopping online in the past but I just thought I'd ask something which has been bugging me.

My hubby gets paid every Thursday and I usually do my grocery shop then but if I want it delivered on a Thursday I obviously have to shop on a wednesday or before online. Do they debit your bank account as soon as you've finished shopping? Or do they take it out on the day it gets delivered when they know the exact final amount?

Sometimes we're a bit short on wednesdays while we're waiting for hubby to get paid next day so I've never wanted to chance paying for shopping online without there being enough money in our bank account but if they don't debit the money til the next day then, in theory, I should be fine to order my goods on a wednesday for next day delivery - am I right in thinking this?

Thanks

  • They don't take the money until the shopping has been delivered and they know the exact total. I think this is the good thing about Tesco as I've read that Asda take the money before it's delivered!

I deliver for ASDA and I have never been told by a customer that the money has already been taken out. It is impossible to know how much the order will be until the pickers have picked the order, which starts anytime after 5am. the orders are often not 'completed' and put through the till (yes, they still have to be processed through the till) until about 9.30am on the delivery day.

i allways shop on line with tesco, they take a token payment of 2.00 from your card then the remainder when it has gone through the till on the day of delivery. just make sure you have 2.00 in your account on weds you will be fine.

Only saying what I've read from others posts. Must say I thought it was a bit worrying!

I shop from asda every week and the money is taken once its been delivered, however, tesco take the money once its picked and take over aweek (if your lucky) to refund any returns. I stopped shopping with tesco ages ago, I noticed one week over £5 worth of substitutes id returned hadnt been refunded. Then on checking my bank and orders I noticed NONE in the past 4 months of shopping with them had been refunded!
