NIKMAISON, have you had any luck? This is something I'd be interested in also, but, like you, finding it difficult to find information.
  • I have been working offshore all over the world for the last 8 years now. I currently have a job working in Angola, where I work 28 days on and 28 days off. I work as a lifting equipment / non destructive testing inspector and know that there is lots of work out there for this at the minute and normally year round there are companies looking for people for these positions. You could go 2 ways, firstly contact the companies and try to get a start as a trainee where they would put you through the relevant courses (which would be hard/lucky to get, but thats how I got my first start) or secondly complete some NDT courses and then apply to the companies.

For the training there are a number of places you could do the courses, Talon in aberdeen and Lavender in sheffield to name but 2.

Companies off the top of my head that I know are recruiting at the minute are

    -Servtech
    -OES
    -DSL
-There are some jobs listed in aberdeen press and journal
    -Oilcareers.com
    -Inspectors online
    -Imes/Buchan inspection
    -Apave

If you want anymore info then just let me know

Just wondering if you had any luck getting into the industry, i work for one of the companies mentioned in the thread, and we do take on quite a few ex service personnel, mostly starting in the technician area then moving to engineer later on, once you have enough experience you would have no problem getting a rotational job with one company or another, rigzone or oilcareers(cant remember which) had 480 positions available with baker hughes a couple of weeks ago, including a lot of rotational positions in Congo.

You might want to start a thread on the forces board Boozer and direct them to this one - you are more likely to get responses that way :money:
