Defo not a bruise, I would say it is about 3mm long and 1mm wide

Anything I say to explain why I want him in my life will sound wrong, as though I am just trying to hold onto him in any way I can. That's not how it feels to me, but I can see that's how it must look from the outside. I am working on not being 'in love' with him, and I'm getting there, but inevitably things like this will hurt. And I'm not really sure I can explain why I'm prepared to go through that.

All I can say really is that before I started seeing him, he was one of the closest friends I've ever had, and definitely the closest male friend. We have been quite scarily open with each other about what goes on in our heads and what makes us tick. There are things I've never been able to say to anyone, that I can say to him without hesitating, and he feels the same about me. We understand each other because we are so alike. I don't think many people come along who are so completely on your wavelength, and I suppose i just don't want to throw that away because the relationship didn't work.

I'm not blind to his faults, or trying to justify the things he has done. He has behaved really badly (which he realises), but he isn't a bad person. My life is better because he is in it, even if in the short term there are things about his presence that are painful. Not sure if that makes sense really.
