Valuation Fee!

Hi
I'm part way through buying a house and of course it came the time when I paid to have a valuation done. I paid the £315 the Halifax asked for and they went away and did their job etc.
The reason I'm posting this thread is because since I paid the £315, the halifax have changed their mortgages (for the better!) but have also slashed the valuation fee to £100. Now in my 'Mortgage Offer' document it says
Valuation Fee - £100 you have already paid this.
Well, yes, I have....£215 more!
So am I entitled to a refund and get the difference back?
I'm going to ring tomorrow anyway but just though I'd get a heads up.
Mike

Is this the mortgage contract or the Key Features Illustration you are referring to?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The key features illustrations said £315, the mortgage offer says £100. Both say "you have already paid this"0

It sounds like Halifax have been generous letting you switch to a better package than the one you originally agreed. They're letting you have a better rate than you'd originally agreed, I can't see why they should offer a refund on the original valuation fee as well (esp assuming the valuation had already been done before the fee went down).0

I don't think it's a case of being generous or not, it's what's right. On my original appointment with Halifax I asked what would happen if the rates fell (as it was annouced a day before by the Bank of England) and he said he'd just do a new illustration. Which he did, which had the same valuation fee....it was when the mortgage offer arrived that the I noticed.
I didn't get chance to ring today anyway.0
