Lloyds application for 10 year fix rate - Switch to Skipton

Hi,
Are going for a house, and have put in for application with C&G for 10 year fixed rate at 5.29% (75% LTV, £995 app fee, £600 homebuyer survey) Although the survey has not yet been done they have taken the cash from our account so it is should be done very soon.

Anyway point is that have found out that Skipton BS would lend us enough to get mortgage on house (£120k, whereas Nationwide only wnet to £81k) and their rate is 5.14% with £895 app fee.

As we are initially looking at interest only with the flexibility of overpaying until we get established and liquidate all out money in fixed rate bonds this would save £15pm which would work out as £1800 over the life of the fix.
If we lose some of the fee paid to C&G then that is feasible but if it is too much then the figures become pointless.

So question is that if we told C&G we were not going ahead would we A: Get the £600 survey fee back
B: Be liable for the £995 app fee

We would like to get this done fairly quick as our lease is up at end of March, but has anyone experience of admin quality and speed from Skipton over C&G or visa versa.
