ending Nationwide fixed rate product

My partner has a 5 yr fixed deal due to run out in August. She was told by one of their advisors she could switch out of it up to 3 months early without penalty.
When I went in to ask how long this would take to arrange (ie should she request this 4 months before the product was due to end, or just the day before the 3 months) I was told this 3 months business was not true and she'd have to wait till the end of the fixed rate period.
Nothing in her paperwork about it.
Anyone know?
