We need a New Forth Road Bridge - Lets build it in China and ship to Scotland !

If it had been built in China I'd think very carefully before driving over it0

Would it be called the Fifth Road Bridge?"A nation of plenty so concerned with gain" - Isley Brothers - Harvest for the World0

Surely this sort of thing should be done locally?0

It's tax payers money at the end of the day - why should tax payers spend £1bn more on a short term project (I'm guessing at what the difference would be)? We could spend the money on other local projects (roadbuilding, NHS, bailing out banks, etc) rather than paying towards our uncompetitiveness.matched betting: £879.63

There was an example in America of a bridge in San Fransisco where politicians insisted that local steel was used. Not only was this $400m more expensive, but the tit-for-tat trade war it created cost far more.0

While I agree with the principle the reality is the chinese economy is essentially a black hole with little prospect of the money we send over their returning as to us in the form of jobs.
If you are going to spend billions of tax payers money it is wise to ensure you get as much value as possible, if you spend 1billion here then that will generate other jobs here which will raise revenue.0
