My neighbour found a Tefal Crotchless kettle at Robert Dyas. It was a bit more expensive than the standard model but was a ex-display so ended up costing about the same.0

What was the price of this, if yo do not mind me asking.Amazon No:170

See through kettles look great when they're new, but I've always suspected that once scale starts to build up inside they'll look a bit grotty - does anybody know if this is the case?Stompa0

You are probably right Stompa, especially in hard water areas.Amazon No:170

My kettle has given up too....just after the warranty expired. Kettles don't seem to last these days.
Sorry to hijack your post OP, but can anyone recommend a kettle that is reliable and longer lasting than the norm. Thanks0 -
No worries. I am now thinking about the 30 second boil kettles. Has anyone got any pros and cons about these kettles. Also what price range are they. ThanksAmazon No:170

we used to have one - they're not too bad. Can't recall the make.
We use that "scale away" powder you add to the hot water - watching it dissolve the scale in front of your eyes in the kettle is quite good!
Can't remember why we stopped using it...might have been a popped element. We just use the Tesco value kettles now..got 2, both working fine. Cheap, flimsy lids, but..it's a kettle. As long as it works, I care not..:)0 -
Its the Tesco value kettle that has broke, or rather the lid. Yes you are right so long as it works. It was an ugly shape and took a long time to boil, so hopefully for a few extra quid and save electricity, i might get a kettle i like and also boils quick.:DAmazon No:170

I think some of the fast boiling ones can be noisy, seem to remember reading that on Which. I've got a Morphy Richards 43121, it's quick but no way would I recommend it. I've changed it 3 times now & every one has leaked badly, the latest one has also started now so think I'm going to have to get another kettle.0

My most important priority when buying a kettle is the duration of the guarantee. They never seem to last long these days (particularly the fast boilers), so it's useful to be able to get a free replacement when they do pack up.Stompa0
