Probably a Really Stupid Question?

Hi Guys

I am due to go BR in the next couple of weeks. My OH is not going BR, but we do have a joint account with an OD with Lloyds TSB of £900. I think I already know the answer to this question, but going to ask anyway. As I don't what this affecting OH, could I pay the OD off with credit card, and then close the account or would this look bad.

Thanks once again for you help.

That wouldn't be a good idea as it would be favouring one creditor over another. You could get a BRO over it.

You OH will just have to pay it back.

  • Thanks again FYP, I thought as much.

Can I ask another question please? I have credit card which is in my name, but OH is an additional card holder (he has never used it). Will the debt of this be included in BR as it is in my name?

Also I only took the card out in December last year to pay my tax bill for my second job. Thought I could easily pay this off each month, but in Jan 2009 lost my second job, hence the BR. Do you think I will get in trouble for taking it out so soon to BR even though I had no idea then I would lose second job?

    Sorry for all the questions.

    Thanks once again.

The credit card is yours so will be included in your BR - it doesn't matter if he was a second card holder as it isn't a joint account.

You will need to explain when you took out the card why you took it out and that you had every intention of paying it off but you lost your job. These things happen. It is your intent that matters.
