ahhhh same goes felt really lonely lately all my new friends that I met when I had LO are great but they all have two now and I feel very left out and noone really understands anyway enough best check on LO and appreciate what I have got:o
I know how you feel, but I have overcome the guilt and depression, Beth will be an only child not because I cannot have any more children - though we havent tried - but when I am pregnant I am so ill I have to be hospitalised, I spent the 1st half of my pregnancy in hospital, and then had to take medication for the remainder. I wish I could have another child but for my health cannot, the doctors all recommended we dont. When friends had their second kids, I hated it, was jealous, and like you felt left out, but I have a relationship with Beth that alot of parents dont,we are extremely close, even though she is a stroppy mare at times and try and give her all the opportunities we can, she did ask for a brother or sister when she was younger, but now realises how lucky she is.

I know I may not be in the same situation, but totally know how you feel even though under different circumstances,

Right, I am now going to have a drink, havent touched a drop all night,

  • I know I am extremely close to my eldest & at one point decided she would be an only child - hence the 7 year gap between my girls. Me & DH have been together over 10 years now, married for 4 this June, when we got married DH said let's try for one more & see how we go I'd already lost one when my eldest was tiny then miscarried one 5 months after we got married but luckily we then had our gorgeous 2 & 1/2 year old.

  • I have heard how very difficult IVF can be, although obviously I have no real idea, so please forgive me if I write the wrong thing.
I just want to say that I hope, for both of you, that all your dreams come true.

thanks cathy that makes me feel a bit better it does worry/bother me that LO might be an only child but hearing such nice things helps me worry less - the biggest problem with IVF (other than money of course) is that you have to think about it way to much and it drives you crackers anyway enough about that..............

I thought this earlier today when it was mentioned but deciced to mind my own at the time, but... I am an only child, I had a lovely, well balanced, kind and caring upbringing, I'm really close to my parents now and always have been despite my Dad being a lighthouse keeper and away for most of my first 12 years. My cousin on my Mum's side was a very close childhood companion and we certainly fought like siblings lol. I was always really happy to be on my own, in fact I love it now even, I love 9am when the last of my lot leave for the day and I have the day to myself :o

One huge advantage both for my kids and my parents is there is only one set of grandchildren and that makes for lots of fuss and love coming their way on both sides :D

I don't think (hope) I come across as selfish or spoilt which is the normal "cliche" for only children, and apart from all the normal traumas we all suffer and perhaps I'm a little antisocial sometimes, I think I have had a normal, happy, healthy and lucky life so far.

Hope that helps all and any of you ladies with one child at the moment xxxxxx
That ain't working! That's the way to do it, money for nothing and TV's for free ;)
