Well, they have to waste a few more hundreds of millions of pounds of taxpayers' money on yet another 'investigation' to make themselves look good. This will result in no action being taken, of course, since there are too many people in power who have a vested interest in letting the whole corrupt system continue – too many with their own snouts in the trough.

It will all be swept under the carpet in the hope that 'the public' will forget – same thing will happen with the massive corruption in the House of Lords.
  • Its looking at how we manage banks in the new statist era. Do any of you know how governments should manage a nationalised banking industry?
  • I am very cynical about this "investigation". Funny how the government only announced this after the RBS bonus issue loomed ....

An enquiry means the government look like they are doing something - whoopee! - but it will take time, so in the meantime they don't have to do anything about the RBS bonuses actually being paid.

So sidestepping an embarrassing situation, while looking like they are following Obama in being strict with bankers.

(I never used to be so cynical, blame this forum....)

This is a classic way of diverting blame from the failure of Crash, the FSA and the loose monetary policy of the Bank of England over the last few years.

I can see the result: Inquiry conveniently blames the bankers therefore letting Crash off the hook for his part in this 'global' recession.

The very first thing they should do is call an election.

How many non-bankers can run a bank do you imagine?

From what I've seen from this and other forums, loads of people reckon they can run a bank. Let me tell you now, you're wrong. And to the aggressive people who say that they couldn't possibly do a worse job than the previous incumbents: you're wrong too.
