Hi,
I've worked 20 years continuosly but have over 30K in savings, I have a mortgage and pay council tax etc, nothing special about my situation. Am I entitled to anything at all does anyone know? Some say I am others say no, im waiting for my P45 (redundancy) so I havent registered yet.

First of all, if you have actually finished work, get in touch with the Jobcentre and don't wait for your P45.0

Contributions based Job Seekers allowance is based on your NI contributions, but the most you'll get is £60.50 per week. Your savings rule out any help with council tax...

How much is left on your mortgage? It may be beneficial to get some advice about what to do with your redundancy package, as well as your savings.
Sorry to hear about your job.The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
Financially I think Im pretty clued up on what to do. I can over pay my mortgage each month for a time until cash gets too low then I will stop.
I definatley will have paid in enough contributions so I will get an appointment with the job centre next week.
Out of all this I feel really lucky, my pay off was decent and I hated the job, well not teh job as such just the constraints placed upon me. I had beem expecting it and had prepared for it since 2006 downsizing. I feel lucky, I have left corporate BS behind and now I want to try and do something more beneficial to society.0 -
