Avoiding Debt Collectors

I'm looking for tips on avoiding debt collectors.

I've done some research already as you can see below. If you have any idea's please let me know and I'll add them below.
  • Put the numbers of people you know in your phone then only answer if you know who is calling.
  • Turn off your voice mail.
  • If you move, don't forward your mail.
  • Change your phone number and list it as private.
  • If you get a new job don't tell the debt collectors.
Please let we know of others you can think of.

Try not to avoid them, they'll catch you in the end ;)

Legislation is there to protect YOU the consumer, use it to your advantage.
Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional

I know your right but I just want a break for their nonconstructive harassment.

If you have evidence you've been constantly harassed, SUE them ;) as I said, legislation in there to protect you.

I am aware I don't know your circumstances but I am only posting this as I am concerned.

This sounds like you putting your head in the sand to me? If you've got a plan set to get rid of your debt that doesn't involve just unplugging the phone, fine, but I am just worried that you haven't. Again apologies if this is out of line, I haven't had time to look through any other posts you may have made, just alarm bells are ringing frenzidly in my head reading this...

Don't ignore a problem. Unlike a bad smell, it won't eventually go away.
