How much discount to ask for?

Hi,
Not sure if this belongs on this board but just wanted some advice about how much discount I should be asking for or if anyone has purchased similar items and how much they got off.
I need to buy a washing machine, tumble dryer, cooker, fridge freezer, kettle, iron, toaster for a new house I'm moving into. Don't really have a specification except that i'd like them in silver and have a good energy rating.
I'm thinking of buyer from one of the big stores, comet or currys as think I may get a better deal?
I've looked on which? but the items they rate the highest these two companies do not seem to sell, and there a bit out of my price range really.
I will be paying for the items with cash which I'm hoping will allow me to get more discount.
Do you have any ideas what I should be offering or asking for? I heard that companies such as these prefer to throw in other goods rather than offer a cash discount on each item.
Cheers in advance for any advice

If you are buying that many items try a local shop you can haggle better with them0

I would agree, I recently bought a washing machine from my local independent, they delivered within the hour and took the old appliance away. There price was comparable with the best on line prices.
Hughes Direct are good if you want an on line retailer. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I need items for the kitchen in our new house - hob, oven, cooker hood, dishwasher, fridge. I researched the ones I wanted and got the best internet prices, printed them out and then went to my local shop, telling him I'd rather he had the business as I prefer to support local shops.
For a small independent he did well to come within £20 of the total internet price and I went with him because if there are any problems it will be much easier to deal with a local shop that an internet company or Comet or Currys who don't have the best reputation when things go wrong (plenty of threads on here!).0 -
i had a look around at items instores and compared them. there is quite a price difference between dixons and currys! i also used the dixons code for a further 2.5% off and free deliv0

I used to work at Dixons many years ago and was told the margin on electricals is only about 10 % so if the goods are already competitively priced don't expect more than 5%, so ask for 10%+ then you will finally agree on 5%.AKA: PC

Dixons isn't competitively priced neither is Currys. I bought a fridge freezer last last year and it was £90 cheaper online from some where else than Currys and Dixons0

When you've found the exact name of the product you want to buy pop the details into the 'Shopping' link on http://www.google.co.uk and do a quick shopping search. Here's a link straight to it:
http://www.google.co.uk/prdhp?hl=en&tab=wf
Also, sort the results into Price: Low to High
This should then give you a good idea of a 'target price' to try to achieve.0
