Carer's Allowance

I have been registered as partially sighted since 1999. My husband and my Dad have both, in the past, claimed Carer's Allowance but their circumstances changed and so did the CA.
In July, my son will be 16 and I believe that he will then be able to claim CA. Is this correct?
He plans on stopping on at school into 6th form so my question is, will CA affect his Education Maintenance Allowance, Child Tax Credits or Child Benefit?

Hi
Yes it will effect the ESA and he wouldnt qualify to receive it claiming the CA. If you receive DLA at the middlle rate of care then anyone who fits the qualifying conditions can claim this for looking after you for a minimum of 35hrs pw.To repeat what others have said, requires education, to challenge it,requires brains!FEB GC/DIESEL £200/4 WEEKS0 -
Do tsake advice from a CAB or benefits advice centre on this- it might be that the CA id worth more per week than the EMA is- I think EMA maximum is £30 per week and they only get it each week when they have 100% attendance and CA is about £50 per week - not sure if it will affect your CB or child tax credits though so do seek some independent advice0
