Tesco, Sainsbury's and Adsa sell natural fromage frais (15p / 100g) and Waitrose have it for 29p / 100g.

If I want to find who stocks what, I always check out www.mysupermarket.co.uk. :)

As this is more of an I wanna than Old Style, I'll move it over to the I wanna board to see if you can get more replies.

In my local Asda you have all the deserts in a whole aisle, but custard, cream, plain fromage frais etc is actually in a separate cabinet.

Know it sounds silly but did you ask a member of staff if they had any?

My mum has been looking for certain yoghurt's for about a month and asked a staff member who was no help at all, so she asked a second bloke, and he actually went to the stock room and found them for her - he really made her day!
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.
  • Have you tried Philadelphia-type soft cheese instead - that's what I use! Comes out absolutely gorgeous in a recipe for a twice-baked cheesecake I've got (my stomach is rumbling just thinking of it!).

Also good is mascarpone cheese....look near the mozzarella....

Its about the right consistency (you can always thin it a little with milk or cream) and Really fabulous if you don't want your cheesecake too 'cheesy'

It's probably not the cheapest option but tbh I won't use anything else now...

Got it in Asda, thank you.

I want to stick to the recipe, as its for the "ultimate" New York cheesecake.

If its any good I will post:D :j
