Things are definately picking up, the new build estate i live on had been selling houses at the rate of 1 house every 2 months and now over the past month about 8 have sold and loads of people have been viewing, and the prices havnt even reduced from the level i bought at in December 2007.
The only difference is the 25% interest free for 10 years offer they are running but they have increased the houses that qualify for this by about £5k so all in all it works out nearly exactly the same price as i paid. Madness!!
Its amazing how many people fall for these offers, when in fact if you work it out there is no saving at all.
I can't help but think there are going to be a lot of people in the s**t 10 years from now when it comes time to repay the loan and they can't.It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0 -

Absolutely. It'll be a nightmare. And I'm sure we'll get people saying they were mis-sold and they weren't told exactly what it meant.
I hope these companies are explaining it clearly and slowly and videoing the mugs acceptance of the information for the court cases.0 -
I have seen quite a few "sold" signs replacing "for sale" signs around my area in the last few months. Prices are down a bit though 3 bed semis selling for 140-150,000 down from 170,000+ and 4 beds detached are down to about 170-200,000 from about 220-250,000.
There are no 2 beds for sale or sold recently on my estate to know how much prices have fallen.0 -
The one thing I did notice when we were riding into town on the bike yesterday is the amount of To Let signs just along the A40 through Cheltenham have definitely gone up. For the same price that we are paying on a one bed flat, you can get a 3 bedroom terrace. It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0

It's strange, in our village there were about 5 houses for sale which have been on the market for ages, probably all well over a year. Then within the last 2 weeks they have all now got a SSTC sign up. Obviously I don't know how much the buyers have offered but I did Property Bee all of them and the biggest asking price drop was 5%.0
