Littlewoods Mail Order - CCA and what to do next?

Hi
I have an outstanding balance with Littlewoods (formerly Janet Frazer) catalogue of £375. This could be paid off in 3 months, if I had the money (which I don't) but reading other posts about CCA requests has sparked my interest.
I first took out Janet Frazer catalogue in about 1992 and have been with them, now part of the Littlewoods Group, ever since. Obviously I have no record or recollection of ever signing a formal CCA with them at that time.
I am considering requesting a copy using the National Debtline template letter, after all it only costs £1 so might be worth a shot.
I have this week sent a letter offering them a token payment of £1 per month until my financial situation improves.
But, my question is, what happens next after they, in all likelihod, are unable to provide a copy of the original CCA? What's the next step? Do I wait - is it 12+2 days - then write again?
Littlewoods are demanding a minimum payment of £117 per month and have issued a default charge of £12 on the account already for non-payment of January's instalment. (the letter refers to the charge being imposed under the CCA1974) and are ringing me every day. I don't answer the phone.
I've also got their PPI (Extra Care Insurance) and have paid this every month on the balance for years, never made a claim. Estimate I've paid them £100s if not over £1,000 in insurance payments.
So the way I see it is, I've paid them PPI for years, the least they could do is let me off the last £375 on my account, especially as they probably won't be able to enforce any agreement.
I await your wonderful and knowledgeable advice - this site is fantastic!

Just read my post again - not suggesting for a moment that I want to avoid the debt!! I just want to explore all my options. Shall I just keep paying them £1 per month until they acknowledge or send me the CCA?"I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something"0

No, not until you have Littlewood's agreement to do so. Have you explored the official Voluntary Arrangement option? If you will the end, you must will the means.0
