  • Hi Chops,

2 cars is a luxury. Is there no way in the world you can survive on 1 car ?

e.g one of you use public transport, get a more local job, one of you drop the other one off at work etc etc

I am always amazed at how people have got themselves into a life style / work situation where 2 cars is "essential"

My wife takes the car to work. I cycle to work and back each day (not to much fun in the rain and cold) and 2 cars would be more convenient for us but is not essential.

It is healthier for me and my bank balance on the bike !!!

Think about what you really, really NEED and what YOU WANT. They are 2 very, very different lists.

Best things in life are free.

Yet another person that comes here for advice, and when we give it "justifies" her current spending. If you continue to carry on spending as you have been you are going to end up in more debt, it's as simple as that!!

People have made some good suggestions - why do you have to dismiss everything?

I'm not dismissing your ideas - just saying that I have got the best deals on those items at that time plus I can't get any further credit (nor do I want to as it will only end in tears!!!). I'm asking for advice not to have salt rubbed into already open wounds! I understand that I need to do something now which is what I am trying to do. At least its not got to a stage where I am avoiding the phone and not answering the door! :o

At this moment in time we need two cars. OH works 30 miles away 8am-5pm. I start work at 4pm and drop my daughter off at my mums at 3.30pm when she finishes work and OH picks up dd at 6pm. I could use public transport but I wouldn't get there until 4.45pm plus there are no buses running after 6pm. DP would then have to pick me up at 8pm and bring dd with him which is not good when she is not even 2 yet and she needs to be in bed! This is why I am considering stopping work and getting rid of my car - problem is that OH has a small van and we will not be able to go out together as a family. Oh well I can't have it all can I?!!

At the moment we don't have a life. We don't go out anywhere, don't have the luxury of eating take aways and actually being able to afford to buy shopping is a luxury! It's just a case of proiritising payments.

My plan of action for tomorrow is to phone creditors with an offer of payments and see what they say. I haven't missed or defaulted on any payments so far so hopefully they might go easy on me!!! wishfull thinking!!

Hopefully some of you can see where I am coming from :o

    Morning!

Just got the info through from CCCS via email. I'm going to spend today filling out the forms and letters supplied and get them sent off to my creditors. :D

Can anyone help? There is a letter to send to inform them I am experiencing financial difficulties. Do I send the letter or do I ring them and explain things? I haven't worked out yet how much to offer each of my creditors yet - well I did work out a figure but in the pack the CCCs said the payment should be pro-rata of what the outstanding amount is and I just worked out an equal figure to pay each of my creditors (eg £35 each).

I don't mind giving them a call - I work in tele-sales so I'm used to abuse and can stay calm!! (maybe I shouldn't have put that!! lol)

    any ideas???

Perhaps get the letters sent in todays post & call them today to explain your situation & that you have sent a letter in your post detailing your earnings etc and that you look forward to hearing from them once theyve received it. There's no harm & writing & calling them - you never know if the letter has got lost in the post & things.

    Good luck & well done!!
