How long you got ?

Once you receive a Mortgage offer / KFI,s how long generally do you have to accept and return ?

Ive heard in some cases it can be reserved for upto 6 months from the offer date , is this true ?

What exactly are you in receipt of ............
is it an offer, decision in principle or kfi,

and if an actual offer why do you not want to complete............
  • To clarify, a mortgage offer is usually valid for 6 months. A KFI is simply an illustration that is valid on the date produced.

For example, some of my clients have offers on tracker rates from December, even though their remortgage is not due until March, benefitting from tracker reductions in the meantime.

If it is an offer it should have it written on there how long it is valid for.

    Different lenders have different timescales

It was a tracker offer I applied for in early December 08 thats no longer around

I have all the forms to sign and return etc, i guess its an offer in principle , and not an offer as such, as i did not pay the arrangment fee !!!
  • You don't always have pay the booking / arrangement fee to secure a product. Saying that, it sounds like it was just an agreement in principle you had. It's always a good idea to check with your broker on how to secure a rate, unless you went direct.
