Alliance and Leicester selling my debt.

I recently contacted A&L as I cannot pay my credit card due to the fact that I have been on Incapacity Benefit for 6 months.
They said that after 6 months my debt would be sold on to a debt recovery agency.
Has this happened to any of you and what happens.
I will be claiming IB for some while yet and my sole source of income is the IB.

If you are on IB, then just pay the debt collection agency a token payment of £1 a month.

They won't like that and will probably send nasty letters and make nasty phonecalls threatening all sorts.

However, even if they were daft enough to go to court, if your sole income is from benefits then they should get no more. Benefits are to live from, not pay debts. The courts normally recognise this.

Don't stress too much.

I the calling gets too much try entering the phone numbers of the people you know into your phone and only answer to people you know. Turn off the voice mail.
