French Laws on Debt recovery

Hi, im not entirely sure on where to post this but i really need some advice.

My friend owns a company who loan equipment out on a short term basis and had agreed to do this to a french company, they have borrowed the equipment and paid half the services fee upfront. However the remaining half is outstanding.

My friend has chased them for this outstanding debt and left several messages for a return call to advise further but with no response.

The debt is now around 60 days outstanding and he is looking at taking legal action. If anyone has experience of this, in the French state, could you advise on what needs to be discussed, and how this particular course of action needs to be followed.

Many thanks in advance
