Baby shop in receivership/Administration - no refund?

Hi,
I hope this is the correct board to post this but if not please would the moderators move it?
There is a small baby clothes shop near us Blooming Marvellous which has gone into receivership/administration.
We knew about this a week ago when buying an item but asked in store if the item could be refunded if not suitable (it was a gift and does not fit). We were told it definitely could. Went back yesterday and they are now saying no refunds at all, exchanges only.
Is there anything we can do in the circumstances as there is nothing we wish to exchange the item for?
Many thanks for any advice.

PS Sorry, meant to say, the item was purchased on a credit card but was under £100.0
