Engaged and signing in for all the moneysaving wedding tips!

Hello all,

I've been lurking and reading all your posts for a few weeks now. I got engaged at the beginning of January and as the breadwinner in our household I will be funding two thirds of our wedding on my own. Saving is going to be the priority! I've been putting a few things down on paper and I'm already shocked at how quickly the costs mount up!
I look forward to sharing some great tips with you along the way :T

    Hello!

Congratulations on your engagement! We got engaged in January too, got the wedding set for 24th April 2010.

We're paying for the wedding ourselves too and have realtively little savings for it (extra shifts at work here I come!) so we are cost cutting as much as possible too.

It will be hard work but so worth it. I'm so excited already!!!!

  • Yeahhhh congratulations on both of your engagements. :j

We got engaged in 2007 and have just decided to start planning our wedding I did try to do it before but found it not much fun due to family pressure, and moaning people.

I am older and wiser now and not going to take any rubbish off people this time. Ideally we were to marry abroad, but due to mum being too unwell to fly we have moved it to UK.

We went to see a venue yesterday, with view to having in on new years eve and loved it. Only problem being they took a provisional booking the day before, so we have to wait till next week to see if the other couple confirm.

They do have a cancellation on sat 18th July so we may end up with a summer wedding, in six months time.....

Two more venues being visited on saturday, so hopefully we will be more clued up on where it will be this time next week.

Good luck with it all, and happy planning. :D

Congratulations on your wedding. I got engaged in summer 2005 but I've had 3 babies one after the other so we are only now just sorting out our wedding. Time has made me impatient so we are getting married on the 20th June this year!
Married mum to 4, new addition expected 02/07/14

    Congratulations everyone!

I got engaged on Christmas Day and we have set our date for August 15th this year, I have most of my stuff booked and deposits paid. Only problem is how to pay for the rest as I work for a bank that has been in the news as of late and am uncertain as to how long I will have my job :oS at least I have something to look forward to

My biggest tip would be to get ur wedding dress from China!! I have saved at least £700 (I got mine from Milly Bridal) & can highly recommend them...

I'm getting married on 24th April next year!!!! Only 1 year and 11 weeks to go then!!!! Lol! I'm already addicted Landy's website, seen 5 dresses that I am in love with!!!
  • I have my dream dress chosen its by Toi Couture. Its a budget blower but its something i want and as i am paying for it i have justified it to myself, the only person that matters. :p

i am still going to try dresses on though, no harm in looking around and plus i would be depriving my mum of a special day being an only daughter if i didnt.
