Anyone been unable to sign on this week?

Sorry if this sounds like a strange question but I'm new to this having been made redundant for the first time!
I am due to sign on at the job centre late this afternoon. This will be the second time I have been there. I just wondered if other people have been unable to sign on this week due to the weather. I'm about 2 1/2 miles away from the JC and have no car (as I always used to commute to work). I could get a lift from my bf if the JC agree to let me going in first thing this morning rather than late afternoon. I live in one of the many areas where the Council has run out of grit so the roads are not being gritted and the buses won't run and the snow is coming down heavy again.
Has anyone else had this problem this week and does anyone know if they are likely to let me go in early if I phone them?
P.S I've just realised that I've posted this in the employment section rather than work & benefits.....sorry!

Phone them, yesterday they were just telling people to come back in a fortnight.0

Because of the weather certain offices just put everyone benefit through automatically which is great for the areas badly affected and people who genuinely couldn't get there but as a new deal adviser and seeing people who in all honesty have no intention of finding work or taking the offers of help why should they get the money for doing nothing when I still had to go to work even though my school was shut and had to find some one to have my 2 kids for me? Some of these people only live a short distance from the office there were buses going past our office all day but the bus they have to catcg seems to be the only one that isn't running.
before everyone jumps down my throat I am talking about the scroungers. I will do all i can to help someone to find work but the wasters I do everything i can to make sure they don't get a penny.0 -
I understand that there are plenty of people who have little intention of taking a new job but I am certainly not a scrounger and would love a new job. I have worked full time since I was 16 and an now 31 and was made suddenly redundant 3 weeks ago. I have never once claimed any sort of benefit before last month. I am bored out of my brain being stuck at home at the moment.
I did go in to the JC only to be told that I need not have bothered!0 -
Yeah i was really annoyed this week, spent £5 on bus fare and 45 mins getting there and had filled out al my job forms to be told " oh some people can't get in, so you'll get it automatically, so there was no need to come." argh!"What...? I was only saying...."0
