not sure if it helps but if you payed by paypal and have that linked to your credit card then they can recover the money for you,

i bought goodss from America which never arrived and paypal said as i left it 5 weeks (reasonable time for US land shipping) that they couldnt do anything, however 2 days after my Credit Card company had a word the money was returned.

Hi shimsham I think you will have more success over on Ebay/Auctions/Boot Sales. The Header is down the list just past 'Freebies'. Good luck hun, I am still with ebay but have also started to use ebid, early days as yet for me selling, but loads on there to buy.
There's no place like home :)

Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

Hugs and healing thoughts are always going your way.
  • Hi S_F_J. The item in question was a wheelchair {used} which i bought for my wife so she could get about better.I wanted a INVACARE brand because they are much lighter and when folded they are brilliant for putting in the back of the car/or taking on a plane. The item i bought off ebay was listed as an INVACARE the lady in question said it hardley been used and was as new she asked me to make an offer £55+£15 postage and she accepted this offer.
But the big bombshell came when the wheelchair arrived it was not a INVACARE but a LOMAX and LOMAX went out of business in 2004.
I challenged the lady about it also if was hadly used why had it had 4 brand new wheels and she also admitted that she was told it might have been a INVACARE she told she would take it back because it was not as described but i would have to pay the return £15 postage which i refused on the grounds it was not as advertised.I took it to the paypal resolution centre and they could not help with return postage and they ruled the dispute in favour of the seller.
So i have now cancelled my paypal /ebay accounts, but anybody on this forum beware or sellers selling fraud items and paypal does not give you guarantees it says it does.
I have aslo been told that the LOMAX brand was used by the NHS for many years prior to it being bought out by sunrise- medical, so i will let you draw your own conculsions to this wheelchair.

Have to agree with Colin in that ebay and paypal offer no protection to the buyer. I bought 3 remote controlled helicopters from a seller and two didnt work. Seller did tell me to return but didnt reply after I asked for his address. I contacted both paypal and ebay and they just werent interested! I got so fed up with it all I just gave up.
  • Hi Justevi.Yes that sounds about right what really, really pi---d me off was that the seller admitted that the item was not as described but ebay/paypal took no action against her and ruled in the dispute in her favour.
But as both of us are oaps and disabled [my wife worse than me] and i bought it thinking it would help her get around better let someone de-fraud us just like that it absolutely sickened me to the back teeth.
The reason i asked if anyone knew of another "dare i say it" reputable auction
site is because we live in the country and the internet can be a godsend.

I paid for some items by Paypal a couple of years ago and noticed by chance the following day that the sellers E-bay account had been suspended. The items never arrived. When I contacted Paypal about getting my money back they couldn't have been any less interested. I kept sending e-mails and everytime I get a standard response which made no reference whatsoever to the points I'd made. Don't believe the lies they tell you about offering protection to buyers because when push comes to shove they don't want to know.

Incedentally, although E-bay suspended the sellers account it didn't occur to them to have the decency to inform me of this and it was only by chance that I noticed this. Like Paypal they couldn't have been any less helpful and clearly didn't give a monkey's that they were being used to rip people off.

I used to be an avid E-bayer and used Paypal quite a bit but these days I avoid them both like the plague and would advise everyone to boycott them until they start to honour their promises.

I joined ebid but have only bought from it once so I dont know what kind of support they give to the seller. I wanted an R4 card for my special needs foster daughters DS so I could back up her games and I was lucky enough to find a brilliant seller who was happy to give me his phone number and talk me through the whole process.

I totally agree with you,I've had a couple of bad experiences with Paypal and they have been no help whatsoever. The problem is I'm yet to find somewhere else to sell bits and pieces. My local paper has been a good start, but until enough people leave Ebay and go elsewhere there is never going to be realistic online competition.
