What is a fair child support agency?
Comments
-
If parents could agree on these issues then there would be no need for the CSA or court.I would be grateful if people would post in this thread their opinion of what a fair child support system should be.
Let's keep this a healthy debate and not a slanging match, please.
We know CS1and 2 do not work and C-Mess will, I predict, join them.
Here are some pointers:
Should child maintenance be handed back to the Courts?
Should there be a separate child support court set up where both the PWC and NRP can discuss a sum where both are happy?
Should the sum agreed be handled through this court once both parties have agreed quickly and efficently?
Should lawyers become involved ( as we know only the lawyers win! )?
Should there be a walk -in centre instead of a court?
Shared care issues?

Ok, continuing with the musing...
2nd PWC is happy to do private arrangement, but first PWC isn't because it would mean a drop in her money. Refuses to go to court - another one direct to Mr GG?Get free advice before embarking on bankruptcy: CCCS 0800 138 1111 National Debtline 0808 808 4000

p.s - you always seem to know when there is a healthy 'debate' on the go on here Zara...is it a sixth sense?!!!!!0 -
When my ex walked out of our relationship 1 of his parting words were i wouldnt see a penny from him.....and true to his word i havnt. He also made all the excuses not to see his 2 very small children...1 was a newborn baby at the time..shameless!
I would be very happy to receive little in maintenance if he saw and was a proper father to my children....i would even be happy for no money off him if he gave our children pocket money and took them clothes shopping regulary.....teens as they are now are very expensive!! This way i could not be accused of spending it on all sorts.
Sadly, my ex isnt a decent man and i cant reach an agreement this way....the CSA has been my olnly way and that has met problems...0 -
Mr Extremely Trustworthy here
So many questions, so little time (and a so called smart keyboard that is behaving more randomly as the night wears on).
Firstly, I would like to put on record that I am only filthy in the privacy of my own home. Or someone else's. Or certain secluded areas of woodland. But nowhere else, ok?
Now to business.
If someone refused to give income details, one option would be to hit them with a default value (rather like a IMA on CS1) but set at a high enough level that it would encourage a swift response. Alternatively, there is always HMRC to consult.
As for the point about whether an NRP who didn't want access at all would get to pay more maintenance, as I see it, since access and maintenance would be agreed as a package, it would all get taken into account at the time of the agreement. Maybe it would be as simple as saying that maintenance is calculated on a daily basis (not nightly - children are quite cheap when their asleep) and multiplying it from that point. As a related issue, I would change the Child Benefit rules to allow that to be split.
I don't quite like the idea of a PWC being able to stop access just like that. Under my scheme, that would have to agreed, if necessary using the court type process. One of the serious issues at the moment is over people taking unilateral decisions.what if an NRP only asked for access so that the maintenance bill could be reduced and he really didn't have the child(ren)'s best interests at heart and the PWC couldn't prove this but stopped access for the best interest of the child and had their maintenance reduced?
Elisebutt (Great handle that!), you're right in what you say about it working both ways round.
Merry_G (still love those lips!), we won't have any refusing going on. Any refusers have to sit in the corner until they stop it. Or until the court type process works it out. Or, since this is my system, until I work it out

I think we really need to see a video link of your proposals. With your shirt off.
Thanks;) :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
I think that the courts were fairer in that you saw all incomes etc and it was not hidden behind data protection.
My ex has not paid a penny since csa took over from the court 8 years ago, lives a very good lifestyle.
Appeals etc got me nowhere whatsoever, still receive a statement saying 0.00 every 6 months or so.0 -
