Antrim/Belfast driving lessons

Hi everyone
I need advice!!!
I want to start learning to drive but need some recommendations for driving instructors/schools.
I'm a very nervous complete beginner, and I live in Antrim but work in Belfast. Haven't decided if I'd rather do lessons in Belfast and get picked up from work, or in Antrim from home.
I don't want to go for cheap lessons that aren't good I really want value for money. I'd rather pay more and pass quicker.
Any ideas?

Thanks
Em

  • Hi Em,

I recently was lucky enough to pass my driving test.

I tried a couple of schools here in Belfast but for various reasons, instructors not turning up, taking money off me and not teaching me anything I just had to give up on these schools.

I was recommended to call a particular driving school, it was called AMC Driver Training. I tell you, this school left the others in the shade and they were the big named schools here in Belfast. I was able to get a student discount with them. In no time at all I was ready for my test - which I got first time. Here is a link to their web site http://www.amcdrivertraining.co.uk

Best thing I suppose is to look around and find someone that your comfortable with. Good luck with your search and remember to let us all know how you get on.

    Best of luck.

That previous post seems too much like an advertisement to me! Take it with a pinch of salt.

I'd say if you're nervous you may want to plump for learning in Antrim. Traffic in Belfast will be bad and other drivers not so patient or understanding.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I suppose in a round about way, my recommendation is a form of an advertisement for a company who gave me excellent service.

Well culchied if you want to see it that way, go right ahead.

After what I went through with the other driving schools, I'd plaster it all over the place about how I was better treated with the school I passed with.

Em asked for recommendations, thats all I gave, sorry if you aren't happy with it. Maybe we should all have our comments inspected by you before we all post.

As I mentioned at the end of my post, 'look around and find someone that your comfortable with' It's Em's choice at the end of the day - isn't it?

Hopefully others will come on and give their experiences to give Em a more informed choice - of course, if thats OK will you.

  • I would reccommend John Adams from Acclaim in Belfast. I know that loads of people have passed their test with him, but he would be Belfast/Lisburn direction, not Antrim.
You can contact him direct on 07708544035 or through Acclaim. I don't know what the rates are now, but he honestly is very good.
    Good luck with it all!
