how desparate is the job center becoming

just how desparate is the job center becoming, my son has applyed for every job under the sun and today when he came back from signing they suggested he apply for a bar job that is in total for 10 hours a week, 16 miles from home, and finishes at 1.30 a.m.

They make me so mad

At least they are trying to help him although I totally understand that transport is an issue especially when you are rural. I think you have to travel at least an hour to get to work but that's a bit impossible at that time of the morning as no public transport running.

The jobcentre are doing what they can to get people off their books - I was told by my self employment mentor (via New Deal) that he has never been so busy as he now sees 50 people a week and there is a waiting list.

Jobcentre can only advertise the jobs they have, which atm it very little.

Well the advisors don't know your son, they just find a job that they might be suitable for, they don't have time to go over eveyone's cv to find you a job. They just give suggestions, then the peron claiming can decide whether it's right for them or not.

They've given me some job descriptions of jobs that I'm not experienced enough for. Although lately they haven't bothered giving me jobs, as they can see I've done plenty of job searching and they're very busy now!

  • unless your son has permitted restrictions on his jobsearch & the type of work he is looking for, if he doesn't apply for the job his benefit could be sanctioned or even stopped!

Have he tried your local paper? Walking around the shops? The local pub?

I'm not been funny, but you do apply for anything when desperate, I do!
