From SVR to Tracker

Hi everyone first time poster.
just rec'd a letter from Halifax transferring my mortgage from the SVR to the tracker rate . The reaosn given is the the current SVR is more than 2% above the B of E rate.
It is a reduced rate from 3.9% to 3.5% , but i had never heard of it before. Has anyone else had a similar letter recently?
