I don't see how these eco kettles do anything new or useful. On the web site they say:
But it's not complex at all! Half a pint per standard mug. It's measuring of the most basic type. And you might only have to measure the once, because if you have a kettle with a water level indicator you can add water one half pint at a time and draw on your own scale with a marker pen.Until now, accurately measuring the amount of water to be boiled in a kettle has been all but impossible.0 -
I use a standard kettle and fill it up with mugs I will use so I only use the water I need. I have a little extra inside to just to keep it from not being empty but not much more
Cant see those solar lights working good. Hell a 1 led solar garden light gives about same light as a candle or not much more, pretty pathetic really0 -

I bought one of these kettles before Christmas and I think it's great. I'd read quite mixed reviews so wasn't sure what to expect of it but I've been very pleasantly surprised. The only minor niggle is that the water in the reservoir cools the water in the boiling chamber quite quickly if you're only boiling a small amount so you really have to use it straight away (unless you like lukewarm coffee!). I bought it from the Ethical Superstore where it's £29.95 with free delivery and 10% Quidco. If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor...0 -
au contraire..;) I have a solar PIR - not that one, but a "double head" job. takes 3 rechargeable batteries, I had to extend the leads to the solar panel. Each "head" has 3 LARGE white LEDs in it.
Light is plenty enough to see by, in order not to break my neck on the path, top up the gas meter, or intercept and escapee cats.
Just make sure the panel is in a good "light catching" location. If the batteries are removeable, slap them in a charger and charge them fully before you use it too.0 -
well sir, which one have you got then? would be interested to know, and we have the sun all day on the back of our house which is where the light would be positioned, save us falling down the steps of an evening when feeding the dogs or putting water in their kennels, and also, dare i say it standing in anything undesireable left by said dogs as a booby trap,...

Oh fiddlestick, Linux has killed my copy/paste ability. Hmm.
Go to Amazon.co.uk, type "Solar PIR" - it's the first one - "Twin solar PIR duo".
It'll be moving with us to the new place, as the kitchen access is a fire escape (upper floor flat), and I'd like one beam on that and the other on the car which will be off to the side.
Not bad kit at all.0 -
thank you muchly, is it this one... http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h_?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Twin+solar+PIR+duo&x=19&y=23
looks good to me, thanks
