Jobs for 14 years and upwards

My son would love a job, but what could he do at the age of 14 ?

I used to babysit when I was that age, but don't you need to be able to do first aid?

If he got a job, what hours could he work ?

Not many hours and there are certain times he can't work. Try local football club? I started programme selling at 15. My friend started at 13/14. But it was quite lucky we got the job as he did want 16+!

Babysitting - not got any friends who have kids?

    Hi BB
How about a paper round? Or could he get work as a farm or kitchen hand? Or help on a milk round? More initiative needed, but he could wash cars, mow lawns, or walk dogs for a bit of extra cash.

If he wants to babysit contact Adult Education to see if there are any 1 day first aid courses at a local college - as he's of school age, he wont have to pay and these are often run on a weekend.

For info on hours, see below. HTH. Kym

  • Thanks for all your input.

I will do some research and nudge him in the right direction.

We already have a dog, so dog walking could be good.

I already employ him at home - he does the family ironing, and is quite good at this. He gets paid per basket.

Kids always need money for something.

    Thanks
