? change of working hours/new contract

Can anyone please advise if this can be done. My contract of employment currently sets out my working hours of the week (I am part-time and have a day off). My Manager is looking at issuing new contracts to all staff and removing what hours are worked from the contract, just stipulating how many hours are worked. My fear is that, if I signed a new contract, I could be asked to work what is currently my day off. Do I have to accept a new contract? What could happen if I didn't, i.e. could I be forced to accept the change? I think other changes are proposed, but I don't know what they are.

You should have a meeting with your manager and ask what exactly is going to be in the new contracts first.. then you know for sure what you are dealing with

It means instead of stipulating my hours of work, i.e. Monday 8.00 - 4.00, Tuesday 8.00 - 3.00 etc. It will stipulate that I work 26 hours per week, which could leave me open to change.
