ccj information please

hi ,i was contacted by tamarisk debt collectors after defaulting on my natwest credit card payments and they have asked for £500 per month,i have told them i can't afford that so the girl said they would pass it to their solicitors to take further.
I had the card when i was working then got pregnant and used it for necessities during the no work period but started to struggle to make the monthly payments last year so arranged a lower monthly payment.but as i was skint at xmas couldn't make those payments.
I havelooked into the ccj process and from what i understand i get taken to county court they asked me for admission of the debt then fingers crossed we agree an amount i will pay ,i get a ccj for 6 years which makes my credit rating really bad but they have to freeze my debt at the 3000 i owe so when it's cleared it's cleared.
is it so shameful to have got to this point or is there life after ccj's ??
this is my 1 and only debt
thanks in advance for any info guys

  • Hi there
Its hard but try not to worry bout it. As long as you agree to make payments you can afford it will be ok. Have you done SOA there may be some things you can cut down on and if you can afford to make overpayments it shows you are willing to cut down your debt.

Have you received a NOA (notice of assignment) from Nat West?

If it was me, I'd continue to pay Nat West, they're clearly in breach of OFT Guidelines on debt collection, which clearly state:

2.6 Examples of unfair practices are as follows:

    d. not ensuring that an adequate history of the debt is passed on as
appropriate resulting in repetitive and/or frequent contact by different
    parties.

    e. not informing the debtor when their case has been passed on to a
    different debt collector.

If you borrowed money from Asda, and Tesco came along and asked for payment, would you pay them?

No of course not, why, because no one told you the debt had been transfered.

Never, ever, ring them, always deal in writing.

Again, if it was me, I'd continue to pay Nat West until they had the curtsey to inform me the debt has been passed on.
